Ngorongoro is a special place in that it is a Conservation Area, not a National Park; this means that the whole area is managed for both the animals and the local Masai people who graze their cattle alongside the indigenous wildlife. During the drive in Ngorongoro you will have a chance to glimpse something of the Masai way of life. After stopping at the entrance gate, where there is a chance to learn more about this fascinating volcanic landscape, we will drive around the rim of the Crater itself, and from here we can look down and see the herd of wildebeest or buffalos. Finally we descend into the crater. The crater walls provide a natural sanctuary for the animals, which means is plenty to see: lions, elephants, buffalo, rhino and leopard.

DAY 4.Ngorongoro – Serengeti.

After breakfast depart for Serengeti passing through Olduvai Gorge the site of the Leakey family discovery of fossils of human and animal ancestors dating back to almost two million years. Dinner and overnight at Seronera Campsite/similar

Dinner and  overnight at Seronera Campsite/similar

Full day to explore the world’s largest migratory concentration of plain game. Serengeti is famed for its annual migration, when some six million hooves pound the open plains, as more than 200,000 zebra and 300,000 Thomson’s gazelle join the wildebeest’s trek for fresh grazing. Yet even when the migration is quiet, the Serengeti offers arguably the most scintillating game-viewing in Africa: great herds of buffalo, smaller groups of elephant and giraffe, and thousands upon thousands of eland, topi, kongoni, impala and Grant’s gazelle.

DAY 6: Serengeti – Tarangire

Today we drive from Serengeti to Tarangire. With a permanent water source, the park is virtually guaranteed enormous herds and excellent game viewing including cheetah, lion (some tree-climbing!), leopard and hyena and a herd of 3,500 elephants.
